JEA, formerly known as Jacksonville Electric Authority, operates as a municipal utility service in Jacksonville, Florida (Duval County) and parts of three adjacent counties. The Company is a not-for-profit utility composed of three enterprise funds, the Electric Enterprise Fund, the Water and Sewer Fund, and the District Energy System. JEA owns and operates an electric system with five generating plants, and all transmission and distribution facilities, including over 745 miles of transmission lines and more than 6,800 miles of distribution lines. JEA is also a joint owner with Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) of a sixth power plant, the St. Johns River Power Park, which JEA operates. The Company’s water system consists of 137 artesian wells tapping the Floridan aquifer. Water is distributed through 37 water treatment plants and over 4,700 miles of water pipelines. More than 3,800 miles of collection lines and seven regional and four non-regional sewer treatment plants comprise the JEA sewer system. The Company serves an estimated 459,000 electric, 341,000 water and 264,000 sewer customers in Northeast Florida.
